SEBORRHEIC DERMATITIS / DANDRUFF

Dandruff is a common term used for seborrheic dermatitIs. It presents mostly as itching and flaking of scalp that can also be seen affecting other areas rich in sebaceous or oil glands such as face. The main reasons for dandruff are:

  1. Increased oil production by the oil glands on the scalp.
  2. Fungal infections.
  3. Irritant chemicals present in shampoos , dyes etc.

Treatment includes limiting the oiling of scalp and knowing the root cause of dandruff. Always consult a qualified a  Dermatologist to seek a long term treatment plan for the dandruff.
